3D laser scanners are used for efficient building modeling in the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) industry.
This type of work requires obtaining an accurate image of the conditions prior to construction. For every pipe and duct in an HVAC system, for example, there are numerous hangers, sleeves, and other components that are precisely positioned within the structure to support it. The purpose of the building model is to collect accurate measurements for all relevant MEP elements of the building to determine the current condition and impact of the redesigned system. The conventional method of generating constructions for MEP systems is to measure and record all components at the construction site by hand by placing measuring tapes on the ground, which is a slow and expensive process.
The generated laser scan data can be presented in the planned design using visualization software. In this way, possible collisions in a virtual environment can be detected in advance.
With 3D laser scanning, Scanphase enables:
• Shorter assembly times
• Lower facility renovation costs
• Fluid processes
Completing an accurate evaluation of the project as built is essential to ensure that retrofitting additional MEP systems did not conflict and were ready for installation.
